Just One Goal for Josh Nelms; The 2012 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Championship

Lockport, IL (March 6, 2012) - After finishing fifth in the final points standings in the talent laden inaugural season within the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts, Josh Nelms knows he can compete with some of the best drivers in the country. The Lockport, Illinois driver also knows he’s just a step or two away from that elusive first JEGS/CRA victory and in turn has taken steps to get closer to that goal.

For the 2012 racing season, Nelms and his Trgovich Racing Team will once again chase after the JEGS/CRA Championship. "We’ve added a second car to the arsenal and I just can’t wait to get this season started!" The excited Prairie State driver exclaimed. "The Trgovich Racing Ford Fusion will be ready to go for the JEGS/CRA opener at Plymouth." He added.

Nelms’ second car is a Lefthander Chassis painted identical to his JEGS/CRA ride and will be sporting Chevrolet decals. "We’ll use it as a back-up for the JEGS shows and run some weekly stuff at Grundy County Speedway (Morris, IL) and Illiana Motor Speedway (Schererville, IN). We’re also going to use it to do some double-duty at Anderson Speedway in July for the Redbud 300 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series.

"Anderson was a really fun track for me. It’s a lot like Rockford (Where he won the National Short Track Championships in 2009). This winter has been pretty busy getting both cars ready, especially after our wreck at the end of the season at Winchester," The 36-year-old continued. "Both cars are about race ready with a few hours of work on each."

The 2012 JEGS/CRA season opener is set for Saturday-Sunday, April 21-22nd at the 3/8s (0.375) mile semi-banked paved oval of Plymouth Speedway, located southeast of South Bend in Plymouth, Indiana for the running of the Plymouth 100 Presented by JEGS.com. Nelms is no stranger to the Hoosier State oval having visiting victory lane in the CRA Street Stocks Series opener back in 2010.

"That was a fun race, I drove for Dave Dotter and it was my first time at the track. We led the whole thing, all 75 laps and it’s a track that you can run multiple grooves," Nelms offered. "We should be good there and it’s a good place for us to start the year off on a positive note."

During the inaugural JEGS/CRA season, Nelms finished just ahead of 2011 Rookie of the Year, Cody Coughlin (883-882) to secure the final top five position in the points and was only 37 markers behind fourth place finisher, Brent Downey in the final points tallies. In the 11 JEGS/CRA events in 2011, Nelms has scored four top five finishes with a season high of a second at Owosso Speedway in Ovid, Michigan on September 3rd. He also registered six top 10 showings.

"(Crew Chief) Ron Bohse has been hard at work developing set-ups, plus we’ve added new equipment that we feel will be able to keep us up front every race." He explained. "We’re looking to improve on last years’ experience we gained as a new team and we’ll be much better when we return to the same tracks. I know our first win in this series isn’t very far away at all and once we finally do get into victory lane, we’re going to be a team to be reckoned with." Nelms ended.

For the 2012 racing season, Nelms will once again climb behind the wheel of the familiar black #11 Trgovich Racing entry with sponsorship support from: Ray Szarmach Attorney at Law as well as Thrifty Kleen Cleaners, OSC Designs, and M.P.H.
