Test at Illiana Successful for Josh Nelms; JEGS/CRA Season Opener at Plymouth Up Next

Lockport, IL (April 12, 2012) -With the 2012 Season Opener for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts coming up in less than 10 days, Josh Nelms and the Trgovich Racing Team have been busy getting everything in order for their run at the 2012 JEGS/CRA Championship. The first phase of that process began on Saturday, April 7th with a Test Session at Illiana Motor Speedway in Schererville, Indiana.

After the test, the 36-year-old was very excited about the prospects of the upcoming campaign, especially after a successful test; “It was a long winter getting the car back together" Nelms stated. "The wreck in the last race of the year at Winchester set us back a little bit. But the team worked hard with the help from Port City Racecars. Our Crew Chief, Ron Bohse tried a new setup at Illiana this past Saturday and when we unloaded the car was quick and it stayed balanced throughout the day.” He explained.

“Our lap times stayed consistent all day long which makes me very happy,” The Lockport, Illinois veteran continued. The 2012 JEGS/CRA season opener is set for Saturday-Sunday, April 21-22nd at the 3/8s (0.375) mile semi-banked paved oval of Plymouth Speedway, located southeast of South Bend in Plymouth, Indiana for the running of the Plymouth 100 Presented by JEGS.com. Nelms is no stranger to the Hoosier State oval having visiting victory lane in the CRA Street Stocks Series opener back in 2010.

"We’re looking forward to Plymouth, I won there the first time I ever saw the place in 2010 in a CRA Street Stocks Series race. That was a fun race, I drove for Dave Dotter and it was my first time at the track. We led the whole thing, all 75 laps and it’s a track that you can run multiple grooves,” Nelms offered. “We should be good there and it’s a good place for us to start the year off on a positive note.”

“We also finished sixth there in the old Varney Series a few years ago. I think we’ll be fast and the entry list looks pretty impressive. I also have to thank Top Speed Fabrication for our new Pit Box that we won at the JEGS/CRA Awards Banquet in January.” He ended.

In 2011, Nelms finished just ahead of 2011 Rookie of the Year, Cody Coughlin (883-882) to finish fifth, only 37 markers behind fourth place finisher, Brent Downey in the final point’s tallies. In the 11 JEGS/CRA events, Nelms has scored four top five finishes with a season high of a second at Owosso Speedway in Ovid, Michigan on September 3rd. He also registered six top 10 showings.

For the 2012 racing season, Nelms will once again climb behind the wheel of the familiar black #11 Trgovich Racing entry with sponsorship decals from: Ray Szarmach Attorney at Law as well as Thrifty Kleen Cleaners, OSC Designs, and M.P.H. Promotions. To learn more about Josh Nelms, and to inquire about sponsorship opportunities for fast approaching 2012 season, go to the teams’ website at: www.joshnelms.com
